Nasarawa NUJ constitutes 7-man electoral committee

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa State Council has constituted seven man electoral committee to conduct the forthcoming election of the union in the state.

The development was made know in a communique issued at the end of the state congress meeting held at the NUJ Press Center, Lafia, Thursday.

The communique was signed by the state NUJ secretary, Sunday John, said the committee was constituted ahead of the expiration of current officials.

“Following the provision of NUJ Constitution, the Congress constituted a seven member credentials committee which was inaugurated by the Chairman ahead of the expiration of the tenure of the executive by July 20, 2023”, it said.

The Committee members are, Ibrahim Dauda, State Information, Chairman, Valentine Joshua,c NBS Lafia, Secretary and Isa Mohammed, NTA Lafia, Member.

Others are Samuel Musa, Radio Nigeria, Precious FM, Member, Caroline Asoloko, NBS Lafia, Member, Bilkisu Adamu, State Information, Member and Abubakar Abdullahi, Correspondents’ Chapel, member.

According to the communique, the Congress in session passed a vote of confidence on the Executive Council of the union for outstanding performance in the last three years and repositioning the journalism profession in the state. 

“The Congress resolved to intensify lobbying to ensure that Governor Abdullahi Alhaji Sule, fulfilled his promise of renovating the building complex of the NUJ Press Center and procurement of vehicle for the Council”

“The Congress in session lauded His Highness, Sa’id Balarabe Alhassan, Sangari Deere, one of our own on his elevation to First Class Chief by the governor recently”

“The meeting also resolved that journalists in the state  should be professional in the discharge of their constitutional duties and refrain from improper attitude of not being accountable”.
