The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, says the oil discovery in the state is a landmark achievement of Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s stewardship.
Abdullahi said the feat will stand the test of time in the history of the state.
The speaker stated this on Monday in Lafia while fielding questions from newsmen on the inauguration of Sule for second term and President Bola Tinubu.
He scored the governor high on peace, security and other developmental initiatives in the state.
He congratulated Sule and Tinubu on their inaugurations and wished them a successful tenure.
The speaker said that Sule’s achievements in the area of security, heath, education, agriculture, transport and infrastructure, among others, are tremendous, adding that the oil discovered in the state is a result of the governor’s tireless efforts.
“His Excellency’s experience in the oil and gas sector as well his intensive lobby with the Federal Government led to the discovery of oil in Obi LGA of the state.
“The State will benefit from the 13 per cent derivation once the oil exploration fully take off.
“And this will bring more development to communities across the state,” he said.
The speaker also noted that the people of the state massively re-elected Sule for the second term due to his tremendous achievements in almost all sectors of the economy.
“His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule has done well in his first term as governor, that was why the people of the state massively elected him for second term in office.
“Gov. Sule has brought peace, enhance unity and development across communities of the state.
“His good policies and programmes have direct bearing on the lives of our people and improved our citizens welfare and we will continue to appreciate him for that,” he said.
On Tinubu’s inauguration, the speaker said that the president have the capacity and experience to transform Nigeria and to take the country to the next level of development.
“His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari has done his best in the last eight years, we have the hope that His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will continue from where the outgone president has stopped and he will address the developmental and other challenges facing the nation.
“Tinubu has done well when he was the governor of Lagos State through his transformation policies and programmes.
“It is our hope that he will transform Nigeria, ensure peace, unity and speedy development across the states of the federation, including FCT Abuja,” he said.
The speaker however called on the people of the state and Nigerians at large to pray and support Sule and Tinubu to succeed in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
He added that every leader and government need the support of her citizens to succeed.
The speaker also called on Nigerians to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities, live in peace, unity and tolerate one another irrespective of their affiliations. (NAN)
