National Development Congress (NDC) has announced a series of resolutions aimed at strengthening its internal structures, promoting party supremacy, and deepening accountability among its members and elected officials.
The resolutions, contained in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, followed the party’s second National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on June 7, 2026.
According to the statement, the party reaffirmed its commitment to institutional development, stressing that the NDC is determined to evolve into a strong and enduring political organisation guided by established structures and collective decision-making.
“The NDC is committed to building the party as a strong and enduring institution, with emphasis on party supremacy. The programs, policies, and appointments (except personal staff) of all governments elected on the platform of the party must be made in consultation with the party structure,” the statement said.
The party further declared that members are expected to place the interests of the organisation above personal ambitions.
“The party remains supreme, and members are expected to align their personal interests and agendas with those of the party,” it added.
As part of efforts to strengthen internal cohesion, the NDC directed that all affiliated groups and non-governmental organisations associated with the party must operate within the framework of the party’s structure.
“All affiliated groups and NGOs shall operate under the guidance and control of the party and must not function in parallel with, or independently of, the party structure,” the statement noted.
The NEC also approved the development of a comprehensive Code of Conduct to guide the activities of party officials and candidates.
To achieve this, a committee headed by the National Legal Adviser has been constituted to develop the necessary framework and implementation guidelines.
In a move aimed at healing divisions within its ranks, the party announced the inauguration of a National Reconciliation Committee tasked with engaging aggrieved members and fostering unity ahead of future political activities.
The NDC also emphasised that it is being built as a long-term institution rather than a platform centred on any individual or temporary political arrangement.
“The NDC is being built as an institution, not a personality cult, political movement, or Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to be used and discarded,” the party stated.
It urged members to remain committed to the growth and sustainability of the party while maintaining loyalty to both the organisation and the broader national interest.
“Members are encouraged to remain committed to the party and contribute to its growth and sustainability for generations to come.
“At all times, and for all candidates and aspirants, total allegiance must be to the party and the national interest.”
The NEC further outlined strict financial accountability measures for party officers and candidates, stressing that party resources must be managed transparently and used solely for approved party activities.
“On financial probity, the party will enforce strict accountability in the management of party resources by all officers, and party funds must be used strictly for party business,” the statement said.
The party also directed all candidates seeking elective offices under its platform to fully disclose campaign-related funding and contributions.
“For candidates, there must also be strict accountability for all funding received. Monies sourced by candidates at all levels, and contributions made by candidates to campaign accounts, must be fully disclosed to the party at the appropriate levels (local government, state, zonal, and national).
“Such funds must be received through dedicated party campaign accounts, including presidential and governorship campaign accounts of the party, as applicable.”
The resolutions form part of the NDC’s broader efforts to strengthen internal democracy, enhance transparency, and position the party as a sustainable political institution for the future.
