New acting Chairman of the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Mr. Joseph Kwaghgba has tasked the staff of the service on productivity and commitment to duty.
Mr. Kwaghgba, who stated this during a handover ceremony at the Revenue House in Makurdi, urged the staff to discharge their duties in order to generate more revenue needed for the development of the state.
The new tax boss assured that under his watch, staff performance would be measured and treated accordingly, while leaders at all level would be held accountable for whatever they are tasked to do.
He further said his administration will ensure that all monies collected are traceable and are paid into the state revenue account.
The chairman emphasized that, broadening the tax net in revenue collection is a never ending ritual and promised to pursue this task religiously.
While acknowledging the importance of human resource in revenue administration, Kwaghgba noted that he was ready and willing to manage and adequately utilize the service workforce for enhanced revenue generation and promised support to staff for self development for optimum productivity.
When all the necessary things are put in place, staff would be expected to produce tangible results that would reflect in the IGR of the state.
He appreciated Governor Hyacinth Alia for finding him worthy of such an assignment and promised to diligently work for the success of the administration.
The immediate past acting Chairman, Mr. Sunday Odagba, while handing over, thanked the governor for giving him the opportunity to serve in the capacity of BIRS Chairman and urged the management and staff of the service to give his successor the same support he enjoyed as the chairman.
