Nigeria Covid-19 death tolls hit 2,001

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has registered 287 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 159,933.

As at Thursday (11th, March 2021), the public health agency also recorded eight (8) new COVID-19-related deaths, raising the total fatalities in Nigeria to 2,001 deaths.

The NCDC made this know in an update via its official Twitter handle @NCDCgov.

It added that with the new cases, the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country had risen to 159,933 confirmed cases, out of which 142,404 had been discharged.

The public health agency also noted that the new infections were reported in 18 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The 287 new cases are reported from 18 states- Lagos (107), Kwara (26), Akwa Ibom (23), Bauchi (22), Ogun (21), Rivers (19), Kaduna (14), FCT (11), Abia (8), Edo (8), Ekiti (6), Kano (5), Gombe (4), Osun (4), Oyo (3), Plateau (3), Nasarawa (2), and Delta (1)

The health agency also noted that it recorded include 1,858 community recoveries in FCT and 259 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.

The NCDC said that there were now 15,528 active cases across the country in the last 24 hours and it has so far carried out sample test on 1,601,396 persons since the outbreak of the infection last year.

It also said that a multi-sector national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, is coordinating response activities Nationwide.
