Nigeria records 121 new Covid-19 infections, 162,762 total cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday said it has registered 121 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 162,762 .

As at Tuesday (30th, March 2021), the public health agency recorded seven (7) COVID-19-related deaths, leaving the total fatalities in Nigeria to 2,056 deaths.

The NCDC made this know in an update via its official Twitter handle @NCDCgov, noting that the 121 new cases are reported from 14 states to include: Lagos (40), FCT (15), Katsina (12), Kaduna (11), Imo (8), Kebbi (8), Nasarawa (8), Delta (7), Edo (3), Osun (3), Rivers (3), Ekiti (1), Jigawa (1) and Kano (1).

It added that with the new cases, the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country had risen to 162,762 confirmed cases, out of which 151,532 had been discharged.

The NCDC said that there were now 10,126 active cases across the country in the last 24 hours and it has so far carried out sample test on 1,767,694 persons since the outbreak of the infection last year.

It also said that a multi-sector national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, is coordinating response activities Nationwide.
