The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has registered 479 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 156496.
As at Tuesday (2nd, March 2021), the public health agency also recorded eight (8) new COVID-19-related deaths, raising the total fatalities in Nigeria to 1923 deaths.
The NCDC made this know in an update via its official Twitter handle @NCDCgov.
It added that with the new cases, the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country had risen to 156,496 confirmed cases, out of which 134,551 had been discharged.
The public health agency noted that the new infections were reported in 22 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The 479 new cases are reported from 22 states- Lagos (153), Enugu (75), Rivers (50), FCT (40), Kaduna (18), Ebonyi (17), Plateau (17), Edo (17), Borno (16), Oyo (12) Kano (11), Abia (10), Cross River (10), Taraba (9), Nasarawa (7), Bauchi (4), Bayelsa (3), Delta (3), Ekiti (2), Niger (2), Ogun (2) and Akwa Ibom (1).
The NCDC said that there were now 19,437 active cases across the country in the last 24 hours and it has so far carried out sample test on 1,544,008 persons since the outbreak of the infection last year.
It also said that a multi-sector national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, is coordinating response activities Nationwide.
