Nigeria records 96 new Covid-19 infections, no death in 24 hours

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday said it has registered 96 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 162,178.

As at Wednesday (24th, March 2021), the public health agency recorded no COVID-19-related deaths, leaving the total fatalities in Nigeria to 2,031 deaths.

The NCDC made this know in an update via its official Twitter handle @NCDCgov, said
the 96 new cases are reported from 15 states- Lagos (28), Yobe (20), Akwa Ibom (10), Cross River (9), Kaduna (6), Kano (5), Edo (4), Oyo (3), Plateau (3), Jigawa (2), Osun (2), Borno (1), Nasarawa (1), Rivers (1), and Sokoto (1).

It added that with the new cases, the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country had risen to 162,178 confirmed cases, out of which 148,726 had been discharged

The Public Health Agency aslo noted that it has also recorded 73 community recoveries in Akwa Ibom State and 20 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.

The NCDC said that there were now 11,421 active cases across the country in the last 24 hours and it has so far carried out sample test on 1,727,467 persons since the outbreak of the infection last year.

It also said that a multi-sector national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, is coordinating response activities Nationwide.
