The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has reassured that the Nigerian Army will bring to justice the perpetrators of the recent killings in Benue, Plateau, and other parts of the country.
Oluyede made this known during a media chat in Akure, Ondo State, where he emphasized the military’s commitment to ending the spate of violence in North-Central Nigeria.
“We are fully deployed and tackling the menace head-on,” Oluyede said, adding that the president had given clear orders to remain engaged in states experiencing insecurity.
He assured that the Army would make elaborate security arrangements in Benue to ensure the violence stops.
The COAS also called on communities and local stakeholders to support military operations by sharing timely intelligence.
“The Army cannot be everywhere at once… We rely heavily on the support and cooperation of the local population to provide timely and credible information,” he said.
Oluyede urged media personnel to verify facts before publication and help build national security and development to combat misinformation and sensational reporting
