The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyode, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s determination to tackle insecurity in the country, vowing to “fish out, smoke, and send bandits and terrorists to their makers.”
The COAS, who was represented by the Commander, Cyber Warfare Command, Major General Adeleke Ayannuga, stated this during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration with troops of the 8 Division in Sokoto.
Oluyode said, “To all the bandits that are terrorizing the good people of our nation, we will fish them out. We will smoke them and send them to their makers.”
The COAS emphasized that the security agency is a big family working as a team to ensure the nation’s security at all times.
He commended the services of security agencies, noting that their sacrifices are not in vain.
“Today’s celebration is not merely a cultural or religious event. It is a moment to reflect on the values that unite us. These are loyalty, discipline, courage, and selfless service, which form the very foundation upon which the Nigerian family is built,” Oluyode said.
He assured that the welfare of troops and their families remains a top priority, adding that the Nigerian Army will continue to work tirelessly to meet their needs.
“The Nigerian Army, under my leadership, remains resolute in prioritizing your welfare, enhancing operational capabilities, and supporting all efforts aimed at improving your efficiency and effectiveness in the field. We shall continue to provide all necessary combat enablers, logistics, training, and moral support to ensure you remain a formidable force against all threats,” he said.
The COAS also appealed to officers of Operation FATSAN YAMMA to uphold the ideals of the Nigerian Army and defend the nation’s sovereignty with honor, aiming for transformative victories in all operational theaters.
In his welcome address, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division and Commander Sector Operation FATSAN YAMMA, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, said the Eid-el-Adha event serves as a reminder and source of strength for their resolve to ensure the country’s safety for all.
