Former presidential spokesman Femi Adesina has revealed that Muhammadu Buhari’s life might have been cut short if he had relied on Nigerian hospitals for his medical treatment.
Adesina made this statement during Channels Television’s special coverage of Buhari’s funeral.
Familiarity with UK Doctors
Adesina explained that Buhari had a history of seeking medical treatment in London, even before becoming president in 2015.
He said, “Those who criticised the death of Buhari in a London hospital should understand that the former president had always used London hospitals before he was elected president…
“The UK doctors were already familiar with Buhari’s medical history, and there was no need to change them.”
Limited Capacity of Nigerian Hospitals
Adesina highlighted the limitations of some Nigerian hospitals, stating that they lack the necessary facilities and expertise to handle complex medical cases like Buhari’s.
This, he implied, might have put the former president’s life at greater risk if he had sought treatment locally.
