NPC determined to conduct accurate census – National chairman

LEKAN AGBOOLA, Ilorin –

 The Chairman, National Population Commission (NPC), Alhaji Nasir Isa Kwara has expressed the readiness of the Commission  to conduct an accurate, reliable  and acceptable census exercise across the country.

The  Chairman made the disclosure when he led the National Executive Members of the commission on a familiarisation visit to the Deputy Governor of Kwara State,Mr Kayode Alabi in his office in Ilorin.

According to him, the aim of the visit was in  continuation of  the ongoing engagement and enlightenment on national census exercise.

Alhaji  Kwara explained that all local governments in the country have been  fully demarcated, adding that the postponment of the census exercise  is to ensure an accurate result.

He urged Nigerians to give their support to the Commission  to enable it succeed.

In his address, the Deputy Governor of Kwara state, Mr. Kayode Alabi  said the population and housing census exercise would assist the country to know the population of Nigerians.

He said the exercise would be of  immense benefit to Nigerians.

Mr. Kayode Alabi  assured of the support of the state government to the commission to ensure success of the exercise.

In his remarks, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari Commended the leadership of the Commission for putting in place measures to ensure a smooth census exercise.

Earlier in his address of welcome the National Population Commission, Federal Commissioner in Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulrasak  Gidado expressed the determination of the commission to conduct  a reliable census exercise in the state and the country in general.
