Vandalized railway tracks
By AISHA NANA, Bauchi –
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Bauchi State Command has successfully intercepted vandals of railway sleepers, arresting two suspects and recovering a vehicle loaded with stolen materials.
NSCDC’s spokesman, Saminu Yusuf, said in a statement that the suspects were apprehended on July 29 following credible intelligence reports.
Mr. Yusuf said the NSCDC operatives intercepted a white Peugeot J5 bus with registration number KTG 40 XF, loaded with 80 pieces of vandalized railway sleepers and four bags of charcoal. The swift response and recovery demonstrate the Corps’ commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure.
He quoted the State Commandant Oloyede Oyerinde as commending the operatives for their prompt action, reiterating the Corps’ dedication to safeguarding national assets.
“The Corps remains committed to protecting critical national infrastructure,” Oyerinde emphasized, warning vandals that they would face the full wrath of the law.
Oyerinde urged the public to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies to curb acts of sabotage. Public cooperation is essential in combating vandalism and protecting national assets.
Following preliminary investigations, the suspects were arraigned on July 31 and subsequently remanded in custody until October 1, 2025, when the Federal High Court resumes from vacation.
The NSCDC’s Bauchi State Command remains committed to protecting critical national infrastructure and will continue to work tirelessly to prevent vandalism and sabotage in the state.
