By DANJUMA JOSEPH, Lafia-
Group of armed men in the early hours of Monday, attacked the headquarters of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.
Our correspondent gathered that gang of heavily armed men who wanted to break through fence to gain access into the cell of the NSCDC, were repelled by officers and men on duty with no casualties recorded from both sides.
NSCDC Public Relations Officer (PRO) in the state, Victor Jerry, who confirmed the incident said suspected gunmen with weapons attacked its state headquarters in Lafia, around 3am on Monday.
When asked if he knows the remote and immidiate causes of the attack, he said he wouldn’t tell, but all he knows was that they had some criminals arrested and they are in their custody.
Those suspects in their custody the PRO said, include informants of kidnappers, cattle rustlers and the informant of those who recently killed the father of Innocent Lagi, in Wamba.
“Our officers and men on duty repelled the attackers and there was exchange of fire but there was no casualties on the both sides and the criminals flee to neighborhood streets”
“In our cell, we also have hardened criminals such as kidnappers, cattle rustlers and rapist, who are still under investigations, while some have been charged to court”
“Some of the criminals were supposed to be charge to court today Monday, or tomorrow Tuesday, but because of the Sallah public holiday, they will be charge to court on Wednesday” he said.
