Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo on Monday stormed Maiduguri city with his campaign team from Damaturu, Yobe State capital for a consultative meeting with the national delegates of All Progressive Congress (APC) from Borno state.
On his arrival, the vice president went straight to the Shehu of Borno’s palace to pay homage to His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El Kanemi to intimate him of his visit to the state and to seek his fatherly blessing.
He said, “today your royal highness, we’re here to meet with the delegates of our party, APC who will be electing, nominating the next Presidential candidate of our party for the 2023 forthcoming elections.”
The Vice President asked the royal father to thank Governor Babagana Zulum for his support and efforts while commending the Governor for serving his people in rebuilding the ravaged state back to home of peace and hospitality.
“I put myself forward as Presidential aspirant and this is after having served as Vice President for the past seven years under our great President Muhammad Buhari and in that capacity as Vice President, I have worked very closely with the President, the President has given me all the exposure,” Osinbajo said.
The APC presidential aspirant added that the governor has done a lot to deserve all these commendations and encomiums about his leadership and great performance
The traditional ruler wished him success and prayed God to bless him and his mission in the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians, while thanking the VP for his visit, describing it as sign of respect to the traditional institution which the traditional members cherish.
Speaking at the Multi Purpose Hall of the Government House Maiduguri venue of the consultative meeting of the APC national delegates from Borno state, The APC State Chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori welcomed the vice president and his entourage and he assured him of Borno state delegates’ support during the presidential primaries .
He appreciated the APC party stakeholders and leaders for their support to the Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo .
In his remarks, Governor Babagana Zulum told the vice president that,” We can only wish you success and also pray for you. All we want God to do is to give a capable and competent leader who can carry the country to greater heights and it’s promised “
“Nigeria is ravaged by corruption. We pray that whoever is coming to rule this country should be someone knowledgeable and experienced to be able to harness the natural resources and exploit other potentials that we have especially in thee northern part of the country, like Lake Chad oil exploration and resuscitation of the Lake Chad basin to generate revenue and create employment for our people.
“We also need to tackle the transportation problem, both the roads and railway lines needs to be rehabilitated. We want the oil exploration resumed. We want the Lake Chad Basin irrigation farming and mechanization returned and advanced”, he said.
