Accord Party has formally given Osun State Governor, Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, the green light to contest its 2026 governorship primary, setting the stage for his bid to secure the party’s ticket unopposed.
At the screening session held on Wednesday in Osogbo, the state capital, the committee confirmed that Governor Adeleke met every requirement stipulated by the party. Elder Ibe Thankgod, who chaired the committee and also serves as the National Organising Secretary, said the governor successfully fulfilled all documentation obligations and emerged as the party’s sole aspirant for the ticket.
Presenting his certificate of clearance, Elder Thankgod commended the governor, describing him as a “worthy gubernatorial aspirant.”
Committee members Abdurahaman Muhammed, Abdulahi Sani Muhammed and Mrs. Awogbade Rachael were also part of the screening exercise.
Adeleke’s clearance comes just days after his dramatic exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and subsequent move to the Accord Party—a strategic shift that now places him on course to seek re-election under a new political banner as Osun heads toward the August 2026 governorship election.
