Palliatives: FG hands over 37,000 bags of assorted grains to Borno Govt.

The Federal Government has handed over over 37,000 bags of assorted grains to the Borno State for onward distribution to poor and most vulnerable members of the society, as part of its initiatives to cushion the effect of the economic hardship as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy.
Handling over the assorted grains to the Borno- State Government at the NEMA Central Store, Maiduguri on Monday, the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA), Zubaida Umar, said: “President Bola Tinubu approved the release of 42,000 metric tones of assorted from national reserve to vulnerable households, groups to cushion the economic hardship ”
The Director General of NEMA represented by the the Northeast Zonal Director, Mallam Yakubu Suleiman said: “the the 42 metric tones was in fulfillment of President Bola Tinubu’s pledge to release assorted food item from the strategic grain reserve in the custody of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security “.
” The assorted food items includes maize, sorghum, millet and Garri, the Borno- state is allocated 594 metric tones of maize,( over 11,000 bags) 252 metric to ones of millet ( 5,130 bags), and 9,972 metric tones of sorghum (69,409 bags)”, the DG NEMA said
Responding, Governor Babagana Zulum of Bormo State assured the Federal government that the food items will be distributed to the deserving most vulnerable members of the society.
” On behalf of the government and the people of Bormo State, I want profoundly expresses our appreciation to the Federal government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu for allocating over 37, 00 bags of assorted food items”, Zulum said.
Governor Zulum said “I want to use this medium to assured the Federal Government that the assorted grains will be judiciously distribution to the less privileged and the most vulnerable and deserving households in the state. It would not be diverted, I would ensure every deserving member of the society get it”
He said this is not the first time the Federal Government is assisting the people of Borno State, stressing that they have supported the state in the areas of food items, housing, among others.
” I also want to use this opportunity to express our appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Director General NEMA among others organisations for their supports to the state”, Zulum further said.
