Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains a formidable force in Nigerian politics despite recent defections, according to Alhaji Muhammed Buba-Jajere, the House of Representatives member for Fika/Fune Federal Constituency.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu on Thursday, Buba-Jajere emphasized the party’s deep-rooted presence and enduring strength.
“The PDP is firmly established with strong roots and structures across the country,” Buba-Jajere stated.
“The defections pose no serious threat to the party because it is built on solid ideas, beliefs, and values. Many have joined the PDP, and others have left, but the party has thrived for years and remains deeply embedded. These recent exits won’t change that.”
Addressing the party’s strategy in Yobe State, he added, “We have re-strategized and eliminated saboteurs. I am confident the PDP will emerge victorious in the 2027 elections in the state.”
Buba-Jajere dismissed speculations of Nigeria drifting toward a one-party state, calling it “impossible.” He explained, “Nigeria is a diverse nation with people of varied ideologies, ethnicities, and religious backgrounds. Coercing everyone into a single party is simply not feasible.”
