Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared itself the sole political force capable of unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
The PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, stated this during a press conference in Abuja on Monday.
Ologunagba emphasized that the PDP is actively reforming while maintaining its deep-rooted presence across Nigeria.
“We are a truly organic party with a nationwide foundation. There isn’t a single community in Nigeria without PDP representation,” he stated.
Reflecting on the party’s legacy, he noted that during its tenure in government, the PDP significantly improved lives, even in the most remote areas. He claimed that Nigerians are eager for the party’s return, citing growing public engagement with PDP activities.
“I receive private calls from people urging us to come together and save the nation,” Ologunagba revealed.
Dismissing the APC’s prospects, he described the ruling party as a “failed enterprise” unlikely to win another term in 2027.
He asserted that no patriotic Nigerian would back the APC, regardless of its chosen presidential candidate.
Addressing recent defections, Ologunagba maintained that the PDP remains cohesive and robust, with its core membership intact.
“A party’s strength lies not just in its leaders but in its followers. Our grassroots base is unwavering,” he affirmed.
Ologunagba also announced that the PDP’s 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting is slated for July 23 to 25.
He confirmed that invitations have been dispatched to all expected NEC members. The meeting will include updates from the zoning and convention committees on their progress and will also review and approve congresses already held nationwide, he added.
