Police arrest suspected kidnappers with military uniforms in Nasarawa

Police in Nasarawa State have arrested two suspected kidnappers wearing military uniforms in Okpata village of Ekye Development Area in Doma local government of Nasarawa State.

The development was made know in a statement signed by the police spokesman, DSP Ramhan Nansel and made available to journalists on Saturday.

“Inundated by complaints of weekly armed robberies on Thursday nights by persons clad in military uniforms along Doma-Rukubi Road of Ekye Development Area, Doma LGA; the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada psc, mni emplaced mechanisms to tackle the ugly occurrences”

“Consequently, on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at about 1800hrs, police operatives attached to Ekye Division laid a successful ambush on the criminals at Kwanar Kare; a dangerous spot along Doma-Rukubi Road where armed robbers usually block the road and Rob unsuspecting road users”

“The duo of Abdullahi Basso and Saidu Isah both males of Rugan Maigari, Rukubi village dressed in military uniforms were arrested at the scene while about to carry out their operation, and the sum of three hundred thousand naira cash (#300,000), a knife and other items were recovered from them as exhibits”

“The suspects confessed to having attacked one Mallam Barka at the same spot last week where they dispossessed him of the sum of five hundred thousand naira (#500,000)” he said.

The statement said the Commissioner of Police, has commended officers of the command for the sustained onslaught against criminals and urged them to sustain the tempo.

Similarly, the overseer of the development area, Hon Bello Akoza, also confirmed the arrest to our correspondent in a telephone interview.

Akoza, also disclosed that six cultist were recently arrested in the area and handed over to the Police.

The overseer, who commended personnel sent to the area for their co-operations that is yielding result, call on the people of the area to cooperate with security to rid the area of security challenges.
