Borno State Police Command has paraded suspects arrested in connection with vandalization of the recently commissioned the Custom-Gamboru Flyover in Custom Area of Maiduguri metropolis.

The PPRO, ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth while briefings journalists at the Command Headquarters Maiduguri on Friday said the suspects were arrested in the act under the bridge vandalising the concrete slabs and pillars removing iron rods on the bridge.

ASP Daso said four prime suspects were arrested and two (2) accomplices who also participated in committing the crime are also in police net.

He noted that they usually sell the stolen items also as scrape or ‘Ajakouta’, an exercise the government of the state has placed a total ban on.

It will be recalled that Governor Zulum has banned scavenging business popularly known as Ajakuta after his visit to Gazargamau Cinema area of the warehouse of the Ajakuta dealers in Bulumkutu where he discovered that government properties were removed and sold to metal scavengers.

The PPRO added that in respect to the ban by the Governor, the police command has so far intercepted (4) four trailers and one (1) pickup van loaded with scrapes and vandalised metals.

He said the suspects have all been charged to court for onward prosecution.
