The Police Command in Ebonyi has assured maximum security during the ongoing tour of the 13 Local Government Areas of the state by the wife of the governor, Mrs Mary-Maudline Nwifuru.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nwifuru had embarked on tour to inaugurate her pet project, Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Persons.
She is also expected to inaugurate projects during the tour.
The Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, gave the assurance on Saturday during an interview with NAN in Abakaliki.
NAN reports that the tour was disrupted at Ebiaji in Ezza-North council area on Tuesday by suspected miscreants.
The Police spokesman explained that the disruption was caused by overzealous supporters who were trying to have a hand shake with the wife of the governor.
According to him, the incident was professionally handled by police operatives attached to her convoy and other security personnel on ground.
“That incident that happened on Tuesday, April 30, was controlled by our personnel and all events of governor’s wife are completely covered,” he said. (NAN)
