
In a clear demonstration of commitment in combating crime through effective intelligence sharing and prompt response, the Benue State Police Command has recovered snatched vehicle and arrested four suspects in connection with the crime in Otukpo, Benue State.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Udeme Edet disclosed that on October 24, 2025, operatives of the Command in Otukpo while acting on credible intelligence from Imo State Police Command, intercepted a black Mercedes Benz Formatic ML350 SUV which was on transit to Otukpo that had earlier been reported snatched at gunpoint in Owerri, Imo State.
The command spokesperson revealed that “four male suspects were arrested in connection with the incident, and preliminary investigation reveals that the vehicle was being conveyed to another destination when it was intercepted.”
According to Edet, items reasonably suspected to have been used in committing the crime were recovered which include 2 Android phones, 3 button phones, 1 power bank, criminal charm and documents of another vehicle.
The PPRO said the case was under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Makurdi, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command , CP Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari has appreciated the officers involved for their vigilance and urged members of the public to continue supporting the Police with credible information that would aid in the fight against crime.
