
Suspects arrested by the police in Benue

Benue State Police Commissioner, Mr. Steve Yabanet has warned criminals operating in the state to better desist or relocate to other places as they would have no place in the state.
Addressing journalists in his office in Makurdi on Tuesday, the Police Commissioner insisted that the command under his watch would not accommodate criminals.
“Let me use this opportunity to warn criminals within the state to desist from criminal activities or relocate as the command, under my watch will not accommodate criminals.”
The Police Commissioner who paraded 8 armed robbers at the Benue State Police Headquarters in Makurdi informed that it was the command’s unrelenting onslaught against criminal activities that the operatives arrested suspected leader of the vicious highway robbers along Makurdi- Lafia road on December 2, 2024 at about 1000hrs following intelligence gathered.
The Commissioner revealed that one Terhemba Dabo ‘m’ AKA Kough 29 years of Udei, Guma Local Government Area has been on the wanted list of the Police until information was gathered that the said suspect has been in his hideout around International Market area of Makurdi where he was arrested.
Further investigation, according to him led to the arrest of other gang members in Udei.
The suspects arrested Yabanet disclosed include; one Kwaghve Asemapav, Aondonenga Awarga, Nongun Mbakuugh, Nomsoo Rapheal, Kpaver Godwin, Joseph Jimeshio and Desen Kaashima ‘f’ all of Udei town.
The police commissioner pointed out that the suspects led the Police to the camp where some items were recovered.
The items include one (1) G-3 rifle, three (3) pairs of camouflage uniforms, one (1) bullet proof jacket, one (1) beret, one (1) police uniform, black boot and carved wooden rifle.
He informed that the suspects have confessed to the crime and detailed investigation was ongoing to arrest other suspects at large.
