Member of the House of Representatives for Ado/Okpokwu/ Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, Philip Agbese has been urged to focus on the provision of dividends of democracy and to avoid blackmail and falsehood which can only generate ‘bad blood’.

Similarly, the Benue people, particularly those of Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency have been urged to disregard the purported assassination attempt allegations on its House of Representatives member Phillip Agbese, describing his action as unacceptable.

Reacting to the alleged assassination attempt, the Deputy Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Lami Danladi, frowned at the conduct of the National Assembly member, saying: “it has become a norm for the House of Representatives member, Agbese to incessantly drag notable public office holders into his unruly game of cheap blackmail and media propaganda.

Hon. Danladi in a statement by her Press Secretary, Samuel Agbaji, recalled with displeasure that during the tenures of former governor Suswan and ex-governor Ortom- led governments the same Agbese was reported many times to have dragged the former governors into this game which is now old fashioned.

According to the statement, the House of Assembly member among others were still in shock over the motive behind the game Agbese was trying to play, adding that the final straw that broke the Carmel’s back came staring the entire Benue citizenry in the face, when he has chosen to blackmail the current Governor of the state, Father Hyacinth Alia.

The statement further revealed that: “It has became obvious to the Benue citizenry that, if Agbese could play his characteristic game of blackmailing public office holders, with the latest on the governor who has turned Benue’s fortune around in less than a year, then no one would be left out of this evil “trade” of his”.

She informed also that since Agbese has set himself up against the governor, everyone conceived to be in alignment with the governor’s developmental vision and against Agbese’s charade of leadership in the green chambers has being a victim and subject of his blackmail and Media propaganda.

Danladi, who also expressed worry while even before coming onboard as the Member representing Ado state Constituency and her subsequent emergence as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th Assembly, was a constant name in Agbese’s game of blackmail using gullible followers as puppets to carry out his sinister and heinous business of blackmail, added that it should bother the public as to why Agbese desperately wants her downfall as a woman whom neither occupies the same position with Agbese, nor is in competition whatsoever with him.

She opined that elections were over as what is left is for those elected from the area to provide good governance, advised Agbese to concentrate by providing dividends of democracy to his people rather than wasting his entire energy on character assassination, blackmail and witch hunting rather than serving the people of Enone in a positive light.

The deputy speaker who said there was no evidence in the alleged assassination report to suggest that the suspects paraded by the Nigerian military were assassins, argued that it was unheard of,anywhere in history where unarmed, innocent looking young men would carry out an assassination attempt on the life of a well guarded House of Representatives member, describing Agbese’s action as irrational and a failed attempt to downplay on the intelligence of the public.

Danladi implored Agbese to take note that his business of seeking undue public sympathy can no longer sell as the Benue people are wiser and they now know better and equally advised youths to stop availing themselves to be used as tools of destruction.

She appealed to those fanning the embers of war to know that war does no one good, pointing out that the earlier they realize that development is far better than undue public unrest, narcissism, blackmail and propaganda, the better it will be for society.

But a close associate of the National Assembly member, who chose to speak with NATIONAL ACCORD on anonymous condition informed that Agbese has never involved in what he doesn’t know even as he was contributing in the growth and development of his constituents, Benue State and Nigeria at large.

Agbese, the informant noted has nothing personal against the government of Alia as he would do anything possible to ensure the success of his administration if he (the governor) chooses to do the right thing.
