Re-election: AbdulRasaq assures civil-servants no one will be sacked

Gov. Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara has debunked the rumour making the rounds that he intends to sack some workers if elected into office for a second term.

Gov. AbdulRasaq debunked the rumor at an interactive session with civil servants in the state as part of activities to mark the State Civil Service Week 2022 held at banquet hall in Ilorin on Thursday.

He said that the welfare of civil servants in the state remained most paramount to his administration and implored the workers to assiduously work to implement the policy and programmes of the state government.

“Nobody is going to be sacked; it is a political gimmick by the opposition. We need your services, we believe in you. Do your work diligently,” he said

AbdulRazaq, stressed the need to make life better for every civil servants in the state.

He said that the paternity leave recently approved by the Federal Government would be looked into with a view to implement it for male civil servants in the state.

The governor further said that his government would prioritize the payment of salary and gratuity because the civil servants were the engine of government, stressing “without the civil service the government would collapse.”

The Head of Service, Mrs Susan Oluwole, who commended the state governor for his laudable achievements in the state said, assured him that the civil servants would continue to strive to do their best.

The Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Kwara, Comrade Issa Ore, commended the state governor for paying the salaries of workers as and when due.

Some of the civil servants who spoke commended the state governor for the prompt payment of salaries, implementation of minimum wage, and training of civil servants.

Other achievements of the administrations outlined included renovation of station and procurement of vehicles, gender sensitivity implementation among others.

Also, Mary Mustapha a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Environment, requested upward review of the fund released for monthly payment of gratuity.
