Re-run election: PDP clears 2 State Constituency, APC wins Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency

The battle of supremacy between the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been settled through the ballot box on Saturday.

Announcing the results for the re-run election in Akamkpa /Biase Federal Constituency and Yala/ Obudu State Constituency, Blessing Anyalebechi and Joshua Umoh, said the election was peaceful.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the results on Sunday morning with PDP winning 2 State Constituency while APC won the Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency.

In the Obanliku State Constituency re-run election, Ashakia Pius of PDP defeated his APC counterpart with 10,587 votes.

The APC candidate polled 10,427 votes to emerged second from the re-run election.

In Yala State Constituency re-run election, Achadu Marthins of the PDP defeated his APC counterpart with 9,168 votes.

Nkasi Cynthia of the ruling APC got 8,647 votes to emerged second.

In Biase/Akamkpa Federal Constituency re-run election, Emil Inyang of the All Progressive Congress APC was declared the winner having polled 15, 930 votes to defeat his People’s Democratic party PDP candidate, Igwe Augustine Aidam with 12,417 votes.

In Yala, the home town of the Cross River State Chairman of the APC in Northern Senatorial District where the PDP won, our correspondent gathered that INEC was under pressure to change the results by the electoral officer.

It took the intervention of the INEC Commissioner for Cross River State, Professor Gabriel Yomeri, who warned the electoral officer to declare the results.
