Refusal to withdraw cash: Commissioner, workers lay siege at Heritage Bank in Calabar

Cross River State Commissioner for Aviation, Jake Otu Enyia

PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –

Cross River State Commissioner for Aviation, Jake Otu Enyia and some staff of the ministry on Thursday layed sieged at Heritage Bank over what he called failure of the bank to allow the ministry withdraw money from the bank since last week.

Speaking to newsmen, Enyia said “we have been here since last week trying to withdraw our money from this bank, they keep telling us come tomorrow and all that”.

“We took this action because we need the money for the servicing of our aircraft and to complete the renewal of our insurance, other wise our aircraft will be grounded”.

He started that the ministry is not asking for loan, saying “we came to withdraw our money and nobody is telling us why we cannot withdraw our money”, he lamented.

Enyia said his ministry had an account with Heritage Bank including the CallyAir and wonder why the Bank has suddenly been playing double standard.

“We are not going to allow anybody to come out of the bank until our money is paid. We are not going anywhere and nobody is going home today”

Our correspondent reports that the gate of the bank at Calabar Road was shut down by Aviation Ministry workers while officials of the bank were silence on the matter.
