Director, Research and Publication, Benue Public Service Institute, Makurdi, Dr. Mark Nyitse, has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the establishment of North Central Development Commission (NCDC), describing it as important for the development of the region.
Speaking exclusively with NATIONAL ACCORD in his office in Makurdi on Thursday, Dr. Nyitse noted that NCDC was strategic to the region adding that President Tinubu was interested in the development of the all the regions in the country.
Desirous for the smooth take off and operationalization of the commission, Dr. Nyitse who is one of the scholars at the Federal University Kashere , Gombe State disclosed that plans were on top gear to provide a road map through a national conference for the major stakeholders in the region to be organized by Benue Public Service Institute, Makurdi.
Dr. Nyitse explained that the justification for the national conference which is in the pipeline is purposely being designed to guide the take off and operationalization of the commission.
According to him, the benefits would include creation of awareness, stakeholders engagement and knowledge sharing among others.
The Director called on all the governors of the region to join hands with Governor Hyacinth Alia, who has already expressed his readiness for the unity and development of region due to its strategic position in Nigeria.
Dr. Nyitse, who was one of those that voiced out early in support of the establishment of the commission, appreciated the Senator Akpabio led senate and the Speaker and leadership of the House of Representatives as well as Senator Sani Musa, who moved the motion which eventually gave birth to the commission.
The research expert called on President Tinubu to consult with the Governors and critical stakeholders from the region to assemble the best brains for the commission due to the sensitive nature of the region and the curiosity of Mr President to develop the country.
He expressed confidence that the people of the North Central Nigeria would not toy with NCDC as the commission would facilitate the development of the region.
