Falz
Nigerian rapper and activist, Falz, has reignited a national conversation on leadership and accountability after drawing a sharp parallel between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s old political critique and the country’s present realities.
The musician, known for his outspoken stance on governance, posted a pointed message on X (formerly Twitter), addressing the President directly.
In his words:
“You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!”
— Bop Daddy @falzthebahdguy
Falz’s statement didn’t end there. He accompanied his criticism with a throwback from Tinubu’s own timeline — a tweet the President shared on November 6, 2014, during the Jonathan administration:
“Why should any part of this country be under occupation? In any civilized country, Jonathan should resign.”
— Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT: 06/11/2014.

By placing the two messages side-by-side, Falz effectively spotlighted what many online observers have described as a mirror moment — a call for the President to be held to the same standards he once demanded of others.
The post quickly gained traction, stirring debates across social media. While some Nigerians applauded Falz for “saying what many are thinking,” others argued that governance challenges are more complex than they were a decade ago.
Still, the timing and tone of the rapper’s memo have made it impossible to ignore. Whether or not the Presidency responds, Falz has succeeded in reminding the nation that social commentary isn’t just a part of his music — it’s part of his mission.
