Senate to announce President Tinubu’s ministerial nominees Wednesday

The much awaited list of President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial nominees is to be made public by the Nigerian Senate on July 26.

The list, believed to have been submitted to the Senate for screening and approval, was expected to be announced on Tuesday and had indeed been originally listed on the Order Paper for July 25.

It was still unclear at the time of this report why the announcement of the ministerial nominees was eventually pushed back,  but the Senate Majority Leader, Senator Bamidele Opeyemi (APC-  Ekiti Central Senatorial District), had, during the plenary session on Tuesday, moved the motion to postpone the announcement .

Opeyemi’s motion for announcement  of the President’s ministerial list “until the next legislative session” was seconded by the Minority Leader, Senator Simon Davou Mwadkwon (PDP – Plateau North).

There have been various accounts in the past three weeks, attempting to explain the behind-the-scene intrigues that have continued to delay the unveiling of President  Tinubu’s nominees.

The list, believed to contain names of many old political horses such as immediate past governors, has thus become as controversial as the recent election of the principal officers of the 10th National Assembly.
