The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has shown empathy to traders affected by the recent fire outbreak at Farm Centre, Kano’s largest phone market.
On Sunday, Senator Jibrin visited the market and announced a donation of gadgets worth N200 million to cushion the impact of the disaster.
During his visit, the senator emphasized the market’s significance in providing employment opportunities for thousands of youths in the state. “We are all proud of you and this market. Thousands of our youths earn a living here,” he said.
Senator Jibrin also took steps to improve security in the market, donating a Hilux vehicle, five motorcycles, a pedestrian bridge, and 1,000 solar-powered streetlights. “Based on the request of your chairman to improve market security, I am donating 1,000 solar-powered streetlights, a Hilux vehicle, and five motorcycles for patrol,” he stated.
The market chairman, Alhaji Jamilu Gama, commended the senator for his visit and generosity, describing him as a lawmaker who goes beyond his immediate constituency. “Your Excellency, you are a super senator who works beyond your senatorial district. I have never seen a senator like you. May Allah reward you abundantly,” Gama said.
The senator’s donation is expected to go a long way in supporting the traders and improving the overall security and business environment in the market.
