Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Moro PhD condemns, in the strongest terms, the brutal killing of two promising young men from Oju Local Government Area by local militias in Gwer LGA.
Senator Moro in a statement signed by his media aide, Emmanuel Johnon Monday,
said the deceased – Jonathan Uko Ogah and Gabriel Ogoda– were traveling to Makurdi on Monday morning on motorcycle when they were attacked and killed at Ulam in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State.
Senator Moro described the killing as barbaric and dastardly.
He said the killing, happening at a time when Benue people are expected to unite together against external aggressors, is very unfortunate and lamentable.
The senator called on security agents to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those who carried out the heinous crime are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
He charged the Benue State Government to wade into the crisis ravaging the Gwer/Konshisha/Oju axis of the state with a view to putting to an end the killings and destruction of properties happening along that axis.
Senator Moro extent his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prays God to give them the hearts to bear the irreplaceable losses.
On his part, the Member representing Oju/Obi Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Abuja, Hon. David Ogewu said he received the ugly message of the gruesome murder of two of his constituents at on Monday , 4th August 2025.
He equally expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the deceased , and the entire Igede Nation.
In the light of the above, he disclosed that he has contacted relevant security and government agencies to retrieve the corpses, and launched security measures in unraveling the incidence of the murder.
Ogewu appealed for calm and maintenance of law and order among his constituents, especially the youth as he assures for intervention into the case of the murder.
Recall that the Igede Nation was alarmed with the news of the gruesome murder of two vibrant young men namely Jonathan Uko and Ogoda Gabriel, who were traveling to Makurdi on a motorbike along Oju-Awarji road, precisely at Ulam in Gwer EastLGA, in the early hours of Monday.
