Shehu of Borno wants community leaders to be engage in advocacy of justice, conflict resolution

The Shehu of Borno, His Eminence, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Inn Garbai El Kanemi has advised management team of Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development (AFPD) to engage Emirs, district heads as well as other community and religious leaders in its advocacy and campaigns on transitional justice and conflict resolutions.

He added that the programme initiated by the foundation was a welcome development and timely as the state has been ravaged by the Boko Haram insurgency and other previous conflicts that has affected the empire known for religious propagation and promotion of peace.

The royal father stated this when the Executive Director/CEO of Allamin Foundation led board members and management staff paid a courtesy visit to his palace to intimate him on the activities of the foundation and seek his royal blessing on their programmes.

He also charged them to ensure that all the community leaders, religious , youths, women leaders and other stakeholders irrespective religious , ethnic, regional, gender, and political background are mobilized in the society towards restoration peace in the state.

The royal father while appreciating the activities of the foundation, prayed God Almighty to continue to guide, protect and give them the wisdom and strength to achieve their mandate in serving humanity in the overall interest of peace, unity and development of the people.

Earlier, the Leader of the foundation, Hajiya Hamsatu Allamin told his royal highness that the main purpose of their visit was to intimate him of their activities which centered on advocacy visit on traditional justice programme in conflict resolution across all the LGAs of the state.

She added that this became necessary as a result of the hardships and negligence faced by the majority of the Internally Displeased Persons (IDPs).

Hajiya Hamsatu, however, assured that the organization will accomplish its mission and vision with the support and blessings from the royal father.

“The foundation is all inclusive and has developed a master plan of all its activities on how to strategically carry out its programmes at the grassroots involving community stakeholders”, she said
