All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has dismissed claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that President Bola Tinubu led administration is muzzling opposition voices, calling such allegations baseless.
The ADC recently accused the ruling party of trying to suppress dissent as the 2027 elections approach.
But APC spokesman Seye Oladejo fired back in a statement on Thursday, saying, “You can’t silence what Nigerians have already tuned out.”
Oladejo likened the ADC’s complaint to “a mosquito accusing a lion of roaring too loudly,” adding that the opposition is already making excuses for their expected defeat at the polls.
He emphasized that the APC, under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, is focused on delivering tangible results and won’t be sidetracked by what he described as “professional complainers.”
“The only thing being silenced in Nigeria today is failure, confusion, and the politics of bitterness that the opposition has perfected as an art form,” Oladejo said.
He urged the ADC to stop “hallucinating about persecution” and to learn “basic political arithmetic.”
Oladejo noted that while APC is busy strengthening its structures and uniting for effective governance, the ADC is preoccupied with internal squabbles, including compiling lists of members to expel.
Calling ADC’s claims “laughable,” he said, “A party that exists mostly on newspaper pages and WhatsApp groups can hardly claim to be under threat.”
“From whom, exactly? Nigerians have long moved on from empty political vessels,” he added, dismissing ADC’s brand of politics as lacking support and relevance.
“The ADC’s strategy seems to be blaming others before elections while ignoring its own deep-rooted problems, internal chaos, and failure to connect with grassroots Nigerians,” Oladejo explained.
“You don’t lose elections because your opponents silenced you—you lose because people don’t believe in you,” he concluded.
Affirming APC’s commitment, Oladejo said the party remains steadfast in building a Nigeria of unity, opportunity, and prosperity under President Tinubu.
“We will not be distracted by political comedians seeking attention through cheap drama. As for the ADC—stop crying wolf; the nation has moved on,” he added.
