President Donald Trump revealed on Friday that authorities have apprehended a suspect in the shocking assassination of conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk, following a sprawling manhunt that gripped the nation.
The 31-year-old activist, known for galvanizing young supporters for Trump’s movement, was fatally shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
“They drove into the police headquarters, and he’s there now,” Trump declared during a live Fox News interview, adding intrigue to the unfolding case.
“Somebody very close to him turned him in—a person of faith, a minister, who brought him to a U.S. Marshal who was fantastic. We have the person that we think is the person we’re looking for.” He said.

The suspect’s capture came after an intensive operation involving hundreds of agents from 20 law enforcement agencies, sparked by the single, deadly shot that struck Kirk in the neck from a rooftop roughly 200 yards away.
Surveillance footage, released by the FBI on September 11, 2025, captured a chilling glimpse of the suspect—a figure clad in Converse shoes, a black baseball cap, dark sunglasses, and a long-sleeved shirt featuring an American flag design—fleeing across a university rooftop before vanishing into nearby trees.
Authorities later recovered a high-powered bolt-action rifle believed to be the murder weapon near the escape route.
Kirk’s death sent shockwaves through conservative circles, where he was celebrated as a vocal advocate for Trump’s agenda and a founder of Turning Point USA.
The tragedy unfolded against the backdrop of heightened political tensions, with Kirk’s outspoken activism often placing him at the center of heated debates.
As the investigation continues, questions linger about the motive behind the killing and the circumstances that led a minister to turn in the suspect, marking a pivotal moment in this high-profile case.
