
Members of Sokoto State Chapter of NIPR and management of UDUS when they paid advocacy/courtesy visit to the ivory tower on Thursday.
Management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) has promised effective collaboration with the State chapter of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Giving the assurance Thursday during a courtesy with to the ivory tower, the Vice Chancellor of UDUS, Professor Garba Bashir noted that, his administration has great regards for image and reputation, hence very much available for positive collaboration with the institute.
And in demonstration of this commitment to good reputation, the Vice Chancellor divulged that when he came on board, he realized that the mass communication department of the university was in a temporary structure, hence his resolve to construct a more permanent building for the department.
“We gave a contract for the building of a story building that will house the Mass Communication department and this is with the view to upgrading the department to the level of faculty in the near future”
Continuing, Professor Bashir submitted that “NIPR has been a very dynamic and educative institute, and UDUS as a training institute, we are very ready to encourage and collaborate with NIPR”.
Earlier in his remarks, the Sokoto State Chapter chairman of NIPR, Alhaji Mohammed Sada Suleiman had informed the Vice Chancellor that they did not only come to introduce the state chapter of NIPR but to also seek collaboration with Usman Danfodiyo University towards advancing public relations professionalism and ethics in the State.
While noting the NIPR is a unique profession that concerns creating and maintaining understanding in all aspects of human relations, Sada Suleiman added that, both interpersonal and intergovernmental relations are core values of the their communication.
He therefore solicited for UDUS support in the areas of professional development training programmes, membership drive as well as research and publications.
