BY ANKELI EMMANUEL, Sokoto –

The All Progressive Congress (APC) has given reasons behind their electoral victory in the recent Governorship and State Assembly elections in Sokoto.

Addressing newsmen in Sokoto on Wednesday at the party Secretariat, the Sokoto State APC Chairman, Hon. Isa Sadiq Achida said the multiple failures of the ruling PDP in Sokoto was behind their political woes.

Hon. Achida who was responding to an earlier allegation by the PDP accusing the APC of using security agencies to disenfranchise their supporters, added that the accusation was baseless.

In the press conference titled, “”The Ranting Of A Defeated Political Party””, the APC chairman also noted that raising the issue of violence by the PDP chairman was an expected phenomenon for any party that losses election.

He however added that if there are culprits responsible for any violence in the state, they should be arrested and prosecuted by the law enforcement agencies.

“”In the same breath, we would like to make a serious call on the security agencies to expand their investigations to also cover the innocent passers-by, who where waylaid and killed by supporters of the PDP, very closed to the Government House on the day of the declaration of the Governorship results”.

Continuing, on the reasons why the PDP lost Sokoto, the APC chairman said: “While we understand the frustrations of the PDP as a result of their rejection by the people of Sokoto State, we would like to to observe that they are the architects of their failure.

“This is because their non performance in the sectors of education, health, water supply and rural development, are unprecedented in the history of Sokoto State.

”Indeed, the destruction of the Local Governments administration and the virtual collapse of the entire State Government Civil Service system, are only a few, of the reasons, that brought about their downfall.

“As I speak to you today, being a greater percentage of the Sokoto State Civil Servants are yet to receive their February salary, just as the monthly impress for Ministry in the State has become history for long”‘.

While stressing that Governor Tambuwal’s political relevance has come to an ignoble end, Hon. Achida assured the people of Sokoto State that the APC will certainly deliver on its 9 point agenda for the State.
