Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has extended his heartfelt Eid-el-Maulud greetings to FCT residents, emphasizing the need for unity and peaceful coexistence.
Representing the FCT Administration, Wike highlighted the territory’s diverse community as a symbol of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.
In his statement on Friday in Abuja, Wike remarked, “Our strength lies in our unity, and the progress of our nation hinges on our ability to live harmoniously with one another.”
He praised residents for their steadfast dedication to maintaining peace and supporting the administration’s efforts, which have driven significant progress in a short time.
Wike expressed joy in celebrating the occasion, stating, “It is with great pleasure that I offer my warmest congratulations to all FCT residents on the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, a day that commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).”
He urged residents to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings of compassion, kindness, and unity, adding, “This is a moment to reaffirm our commitment to values of love and acceptance, fostering togetherness across all beliefs.”
The minister also acknowledged the tireless efforts of law enforcement, healthcare workers, and essential service providers in ensuring the safety and functionality of the FCT.
He reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to improving infrastructure, healthcare access, emergency services, and security to enhance residents’ quality of life.
Encouraging community engagement, Wike said, “Let us seize this opportunity to build bridges with our neighbors, regardless of their background, and participate in initiatives that promote social cohesion, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.”
He also called on residents to fulfill their civic duties, such as obeying traffic regulations, paying taxes, and engaging in community activities.
Wike urged the people to pray for the success of President Bola Tinubu, noting, “We are grateful for his unwavering support for the FCT administration and his efforts to advance the development of our nation’s capital.”
He concluded with well-wishes, saying, “May this Eid-el-Maulud bring peace, prosperity, and joy to you and your families as we strive to embody the virtues of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in our daily lives.”
