Yuletide: Police ban sales, use of knockouts, fireworks in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has ban the use of fireworks during Christmas and new year celebration in the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Maiyaki Muhammed Baba announced the ban in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lafia by the command’s spokesperson DSP Ramhan Nansel.

CP Baba said the ban on the use of fireworks is to prevent unnecessary panic and tension during the celebration and after the festive period.

He said: “The use of fireworks is still in force and the Command will enforce all the extant laws prohibiting the use of fireworks such as ‘knock-out’, ‘banger’ and crackers during Yuletide season,” the statement read.

“Meanwhile, Parents and Guardians are urged to warn their children and wards to desist from using the ban items, while retailers who sold such goods are equally warned to withdraw from the sales of these products as anyone apprehended will be made to face the full wrought of the law.
