
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State

Germany Government is to support Federal Government of Nigeria with about 10 million Euros for the repatriation of Borno State citizens on refuge in the three countries of Niger, Chad and Cameroon Republics and Management of Repentant Boko Haram Insurgents.
The fund is also to be managed by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with the Presidency while the Vice President , Professor Yemi Osinbajo is to Head the Federal Government High powered Committee as Chairman and expected to work in collaboration with the Borno State Committee on the repatriation of refugees in neighboring countries.
Governor Babagana Zulum disclosed this at the Government House Council Chamber Maiduguri while inaugurating the Borno State Committee on the repatriation of Borno State citizens on refuge in the Republics of Niger, Chad and Cameroon and management of repentant Boko Haram insurgents.
He said the State High Powered Committee is headed by the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur as Chairman with the State Attorney General who is also the State Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawan as Co-Chairman.
He charged the committee to work assiduously in collaboration with that of the federal government to discharge their responsibilities towards achieve the terms of reference of the committee in the overall interest of the state and county at large.
Governor Zulum also tasked the committee to also look for other sources of funding or support from public and private organisations and individuals willing to support the government.
Zulum said the committee is charged with the responsibility of managing the repentant Boko Haram Insurgents, ensuring their deradicalization, rehabilitation and reintegration processes into the society.
In his remark, the Co-chairman, Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawan on behalf of the State Committee, thanked the governor for identifying them and finding them worthy to serve in the Committee while assuring to repose the confidence of the people and government on them,.
He also pledged the committee commitment and readiness to discharge their responsibilities diligently in the overall interest of the government and people of Borno, while stressing that the committee will dedicate itself and work in synergy with the Federal Government Committee on repatriation and management of repentant Boko Haram insurgents.
