Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has presented Staff of Office to the 13th Shehu of Dikwa, Dikwa Emirate, HRH, Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Umar Ibrahim Al- Amin El-Kanemi, on Sunday at a mammoth crowd that converged from far and near within and outside the state to witness the coronation ceremony held at the Palace of the Shehu of Dikwa.
While presenting the staff of office, Zulum also pledged to ensure speedy completion reconnection of national grid to the town and it’s environs.
The governor, further, assured that the Maiduguri-Mafa-Dikwa-Gamboru- Ngala Trunk ‘A’ road commence soon to ease movement of people and vehicles along the road which links border towns towards boosting commercial and agricultural activities in the areas.
He described the Shehu of Dikwa as “peace maker of excellence ” who was appointed 30th January 2021 to succeed his late cousin brother ,HRH, Muhammad Masta II Ibn Umar El Kanemi who was the 12th Shehu of Dikwa.
The oath of allegiance and office was administered by the State Chief Judge (SCJ), Justice Kashim Zanna, represented by Justice Babagana Karumi, High Court II
The Shehu of Dikwa, HRH, Ibrahim Ibn Umar Ibrahim El- Kanami in his address after the coronation, appreciated and commended Governor Zulum for following the due process to appoint him as the 13th Shehu of Dikwa while thanking the kingmakers for their support and recommendation for the appointment.
He also applauded the efforts of the governor in rehabilitating the highway from Maiduguri to Lomani while appealing to the Governor to extend the road rehabilitation from Maiduguri to Gamboru Ngala border towns..
The royal father, further, appreciated the efforts and concerns of security agencies in the area while recognizing the stakeholders role in the restoration of peace in the area .
Shehu of Dikwa also pledged allegiance to the government while promising to support the government in all its policies and programmes in the overall general interest of the people as th custodian of the people.
Prominent among those who attended the ceremony include the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, former Vice President, Amb. Babagana Kingibe, former FCT Architect Ibrahim Bunu, former Governor of Borno State and APC National Party Leader , Senator Ali Modu Sheriff (SAS).
Others are the Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, Emir of Lafia, HRH, Barrister Agwai II,, Emir of Fika, HRH, Muhammad Abali Ibn Idrissa, Emir of Damaturu, HRH, Ashemi Ibn Umar El-Kanemi , top government officials and representatives of development and humanitarian organizations among others.
