Borno State Fist Lady, Dr. Falmata Zulum has applauded Goal Prime Organization Nigeria (GPON), United Nations Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF), for their support in empowering the resilience of vulnerable children in the state.
Dr. (Mrs) Zulum added that the state government has mapped out resilience programmes including welfare packages and special education for all the categories of the vulnerable children across the 27 LGAs of the state to stimulate and strengthen the resilience of the vulnerable children to achieve their individual ambitions in life and professional careers.
She stated this at the World Children’s Day 2022 Resilience Football Match organized by Goal Prime Organization Nigeria (GPON) in collaboration with the Borno State Government, sponsored by Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and coordinated by UNICEF at the football pitch of The University of Maiduguri on Tuesday evening.

NATIONAL ACCORD reports that the vulnerable children novelty football match was between Gwange Primary and Junior Secondary School (Northern Giants) verses Moduganari Primary and Junior Secondary School (Resilient Lions) which ended 4-0 against the Northern Giants and in favour of resilient Lions.

Represented by the Borno State Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo, she assured that the state government will continue to partner the development and humanitarian partners in the state to make impact on the vulnerable children who were affected by the 13 years conflict in the state, which ravaged almost all the LGAs of the state and displaced over 3 million people across the state.

She noted that the state government has made it a priority to provide succour to the victims of the insurgency in collaboration with the humanitarian and development partners in the post insurgency rebuilding and resilience era of the state government’s 10 years transformation strategic plan and 25 years reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement master plan.

While presenting the winning team their gold medals and trophy, the First Lady congratulated the vulnerable children for their efforts and sacrifices during the football competition and appreciated the talents of the children, who despite their vulnerability were able to go to school and learn to become professionals in their various fields of endeavours.

The UNICEF Acting Chief of Field Office Maiduguri, Mr. Clement Adams, also presented gold medals and trophy to the runner up team, Gwange Primary and Junior Secondary School (The Northern Giants.
A popular Hausa musician, Ado Gwanja alias Mai Shayi, was also live on stage to entertain guests and dignitaries with his thrilling songs.
