
Crowd at PDP rally used in illustrating the story

It was unusual sight and experience for many within Sokoto metropolis on Wednesday as motorists have to feel the pains of gridlock following crowd that enveloped the town in support of Sokoto Deputy Governor, Hon Muhammad Dan ‘Iya.
Hon. Dan’Iya stormed the party’s secretariat located along Bello Way to formally notify party officials of his intentions to succeed his principal, Governor Aminu Tambuwal.

According to him, “I have come to meet the caucus and leadership of PDP in Sokoto to inform them officially about my intentions to run for the office of the Governor of Sokoto State in 2023 general elections.
“But first and foremost, let me thank Almighty Allah for this day, and also my mentor the Governor Rt.Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal CFR,(Mutawallen Sokoto) for given me the support and courage to seek for this office. I will ever be grateful to him”.
Continuing in his speech, the deputy governor promised to run an all inclusive government, consolidate on the achievements so far recorded by Tambuwal and initiate more if given the mandate.
“As a team player who work hand in hand with the governor, I am in a better position to step into his shoes. I promised to sustain all the legacy projects started by my boss, complete them and embark on new ones that our people desires”.
“Also, I will focus on education, health, agriculture, youth empowerment, economy, security, and of course run a welfare oriented government.
“My priority will be on new modern ways to govern, seek partnership with in and outside the state, and also harness the abundant mineral resources available in Sokoto for the overall benefit of all. We will also explore new ways of revenue drive to boost our income”.
While urging the party’s leaders to support his candidature, the deputy governor said he has sound vision and mission for the Sokoto State.
