The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it will sanction any of its personnel who violates its Standard Operational Practice (SOP) during the 2023 General Elections.
The NSCDC Commandant in Oyo state, Mr Michael Adaralewa, stated this on Thursday during a training organised by the command for its personnel ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Adaralewa said that the command would not tolerate or treat with kid glove any officer caught engaged in acts that could undermine the electoral process or tarnish the image of the corps.
The command, he said, was committed to free, fair and credible elections and sought for the cooperation of the officers for a successful exercise.
The commandant said that security was an indispensable ingredient for the growth and sustenance of any democratic government and that the roles of security agencies could not be over emphasised.
“In the next few days, Nigerians will be going to the polls to elect their leaders for various offices across the country.
“It is no longer news that our activities and contributions during such elections should always be non-partisan and purely professional.
“Over the years, the NSCDC has been recognised and applauded for their roles in successful elections across the country.
“I want to sincerely urge us all to be professional, dutiful, patriotic and above all non-partisan in the discharge of the onerous task ahead,” Adaralewa said.
He commended the effort of NSCDC Commandant-General Dr Ahmed Audi, for making the training a reality. (NAN)
