Renowned cleric and spiritual leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has unveiled his prophetic outlook for 2026, painting a picture of a year he said will test Nigeria’s political stability, security framework and economic resolve.
Speaking during a press briefing at his Lagos church on Saturday, Primate Ayodele said the Federal Government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would intensify efforts to steady the economy but may struggle with public buy-in.
According to him, while policies will be well-intentioned, they are likely to spark criticism and resistance, making proactive engagement with citizens crucial.
On the sensitive issue of national security, the cleric issued a stern warning about possible military coup attempts.
He urged President Tinubu to strengthen ties with both serving and retired military generals, stressing that vigilance and consultation would be key to preserving democracy.
Ayodele also hinted at major internal changes in Aso Rock, predicting stricter protocols and heightened security measures around the presidency.
Turning to key political offices, the prophet claimed that Vice President Kashim Shettima could face political scheming and subtle plots, while the Office of the National Security Adviser may encounter challenges that would demand alertness and strategic handling.
Ayodele further warned that proposed tax reforms could ignite widespread debates and protests, especially among pensioners, while Northern political leaders may find themselves divided over competing interests.
In his broader political forecast, the cleric said Nnamdi Kanu would eventually regain freedom, though under stringent conditions, adding that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) would remain at odds with the Federal Government. He also predicted turbulent times for major political parties, including the APC, PDP, Labour Party and ADC, with internal rifts and legal disputes threatening party unity.
As Nigeria looks ahead to 2026, Primate Ayodele’s prophecies have once again stirred conversation, offering a mix of caution, counsel and contemplation about the nation’s political journey.
