Forum of South West Chairmen of the Accord Party has expressed strong confidence that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, will secure a second term in office in the 2026 governorship election.
The forum’s spokesperson and Chairman of Accord in Ogun State, Mr Rotimi Oke, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, citing what he described as the governor’s impressive performance and growing public acceptance across Osun.
According to Oke, Adeleke’s style of leadership, coupled with effective mobilisation and increasing unity within the Accord Party in the South West, has boosted confidence ahead of the next election cycle.
“Adeleke’s leadership has delivered tangible benefits that meet the needs and expectations of the people,” he said.
Oke stressed that the governor’s achievements have spoken louder than political criticism, noting that even opponents have found it difficult to dismiss his record in office.
“If a leader is good, even his critics cannot overlook his genuineness and sincerity in governance,” he said.
He described Adeleke’s administration as one driven by service and performance, adding that the governor is not known for deceit or political manipulation.
Recalling events following the governor’s emergence as his party’s candidate on December 10, Oke said Adeleke had clearly outlined the key accomplishments of his administration, particularly in education, infrastructure, health and debt management.
He noted that Osun State’s ranking in national examination performance rose dramatically from 33rd position under the immediate past administration to seventh under Adeleke’s leadership.
According to him, the improvement in education standards in the state is now widely acknowledged, “even by the opposition.”
Oke further disclosed that the state’s infrastructure deficit, which stood at over 80 per cent in 2022, has dropped to about 40 per cent by 2025.
On fiscal management, he said Adeleke’s administration had paid off more than 40 per cent of inherited state debt, a development he said was confirmed by the Debt Management Office.
He also pointed to significant gains in the health sector, stating that Osun has emerged as the leading state in the South West in access to primary healthcare services.
“This is clear evidence of people-oriented governance,” Oke said.
The Accord chieftain also cited recent public displays of support as a sign of the governor’s popularity, recalling a spontaneous procession by Accord leaders and supporters through Osogbo after the party’s primary election.
“Residents trooped out, chanting slogans in support of Adeleke and Accord,” he said, describing the scene as a clear reflection of mass acceptance.
With the level of public support and the administration’s performance, Oke expressed confidence that Governor Adeleke would defeat other contenders and emerge victorious in the 2026 governorship election. (NAN)
