Former deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Manir Dan'Iya
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, former deputy governor of Sokoto State, Manir Dan’Iya has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the State.
The consensus which took days to arrive at was considered the most matured political calculation done by the opposition ADC towards wrestling power from the ruling APC.
Dan’iya, who deputized former governor, now Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal from 2019 to 2023 said his emergence as a consensus candidate was not only a display of confidence but also a motivation to continue engaging with citizens, community leaders, party faithful, and development partners in pursuit of a better and more prosperous Sokoto State.
Expressing his gratitude to the State leader of ADC, Senator Aminu Tambuwal and all other party faithful that supported his emergence, Dan’iya, further appealed for support, guidance, and continued commitment by all party loyalists towards the development of Sokoto state.
Confirming the development, a statement issued by his former Press Secretary, Aminu Abubakar, quoted his principal as saying the opportunity given to him requires greater support and unity from party leaders, elders, political associates, youths, women groups, and other critical stakeholders.
According to him, “The movement represents a fresh commitment towards inclusive leadership, good governance, people-oriented policies, and the overall advancement of the state. Therefore, the support and encouragement from various political blocs and supporters across the state remain highly valued”.
The ADC flagbeaer also called on supporters and members of the “Sai Wali” movement to remain peaceful, focused, and united as consultations and political engagements continue ahead of the 2027 electoral process.
“I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, alongside all stakeholders, political associates, elders, youths, women, and supporters for the confidence reposed in me. This support is a responsibility I deeply value, and together, we shall continue to work for the unity, stability, and development of Sokoto State,” he said.
