Tragedy has deepened following the inferno at the Great Nigeria Insurance building on Martin Street, Lagos Island, as three bodies have been recovered from the scene, three days after the incident.
A casualty report issued by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that the victims comprise one adult female and two males.
Their bodies were retrieved from the collapsed section of the high-rise structure affected by the fire.
The report also disclosed that eight males, including a firefighter who participated in the emergency response, sustained varying degrees of injuries.
All were treated at the hospital and subsequently discharged.
In addition, five other victims—three males and two females—suffered minor injuries during the incident.
They received first aid at the scene and were later released.
Meanwhile, search and rescue operations remain ongoing as emergency teams intensify efforts to locate other persons believed to be trapped in the building.
The operation involves LASEMA Response Teams working alongside the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Red Cross, and the Lagos State Government Fire and Rescue Service.
Authorities said updates will be provided as rescue efforts continue at the site.
