
SGF George Akume
Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, on behalf of the Government and people of the State has felicitated the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Sen. Dr. George Akume, as he marks his 72nd birthday.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Tersoo Kula, said Alia expressed gratitude to God for granting the former governor another year to witness his birthday in good health and excellent spirit.
He said the former Minority Leader of the Senate is a great beneficiary of God’s immense grace, judging by his attainment in politics and civil service career.
The governor appreciated the former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs for his legacies in the state and country and prayed to God to continue to grant Sen. Akume, good health and long life, as he continues to serve Nigeria, our dear country.
Similarly, the former governor of the state, Samuel Ortom has also felicitated the SGF over his 72 nd birthday.
A statement by the Media Adviser to the former governor, Dr. Terver Akase quoted the former governor as describing Senator Akume as a distinguished Nigerian, statesman and consummate leader whose decades of public service have left an indelible mark on Benue State and the nation at large noting that the SGF’s political journey has been defined by vision, discipline, and commitment to the public good.
According the statement, Senator Akume has mentored, groomed, and positioned countless people, among them technocrats, politicians, and professionals across diverse fields, many of whom continue to contribute meaningfully to national development.
“Senator Akume has distinguished himself through an exemplary life of public service. As a former Governor of Benue State and a three-time Senator who represented the Benue North West Senatorial District, Minister of the Federal Republic, and now SGF, Senator Akume has demonstrated unparalleled commitment to the welfare of his people and the country as a whole.”
Chief Ortom, the Media Adviser revealed said that, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Akume has played a pivotal role in stabilizing governance and supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as it confronts the nation’s current economic challenges.
He prayed that Almighty God should grant Senator Akume many more years of good health, wisdom, happiness, and continued service to the nation.
